What if understanding your eating started with curiosity instead of pressure?
Eating can look simple from the outside. But when food involves sensory needs, routines, changing safe foods, limited choices, planning, uncertainty, nervous system responses, or simply not knowing why something works one day and doesn’t the next, there can be much more happening beneath the surface.
A Guided Playbook for Understanding Your Eating is not a diet plan, a food challenge, or a workbook designed to “fix” the way you eat.
It is a place to notice, understand, and build tools that can help.
Through gentle conversations and guided discovery pages, you’ll begin exploring your own eating patterns and the things that influence them. You might notice what helps a food feel safe, how environment changes what is possible, when fueling tends to happen, how pressure affects your body, or what your nervous system may be communicating before your brain has words for it.
Then, the Inner Strength Toolbox for Eating gives you practical tools you can return to when eating feels complicated. Tools such as Purple Heart Breathing, Right Thoughts & Words, Body Before Brain, Even If Statements, Multiple Paths, Backpack Check, I Get to Choose, Today Is Enough, and more help you work with thoughts, emotions, uncertainty, boundaries, difficult memories, and the body’s stress response.
Inside, you’ll explore:
- safe foods, preferences, sensory experiences, and patterns
- fuel windows and everyday eating rhythms
- restaurants, travel, changing routines, and unfamiliar situations
- pressure, expectations, and other people’s voices
- nervous system regulation and body awareness
- confidence, boundaries, choice, and self-advocacy
- ways to respond when “I don’t know” is the most honest answer
- practical Inner Strength tools for navigating difficult eating moments
Created from author Christine I. LaFollette’s lived experience with ARFID, this playbook grew from the realization that understanding often comes before change, and that sometimes understanding itself is an important step.
Progress does not have to mean eating a new food.
It can mean noticing a pattern. Asking for what you need. Finding another path. Speaking differently to yourself. Regulating your body. Recognizing what is yours to carry and what is not.
You do not need to have all the answers.
Sometimes you just need a place to begin noticing.
If you had a guess… what might your eating be trying to tell you?
